Your choice of which Course to take will depend on what you want out of your course. The more effort and resources you put in will generally define what you get back out. Maybe you only have one day and you only want a peek under the sea or you have two to three days and you want to really learn and explore more.
You will do some NAUI “e learning “ on line in your own time before we spend up to a day out in the ocean and practise a little of what you learnt and check out some kelp environments.
Welcome to the wonders of the underwater world! The NAUI Snorkeler course is an entry-level program designed to educate snorkelers on the skills and knowledge to safely observe underwater attractions from or near the surface of the water. Maximum depth during training is 15 feet (5 meters). If you are looking to learn how to use basic snorkeling equipment or increase your comfort in the water while exploring, this is the course for you.
During your NAUI Snorkeler certification course you will learn about safety & problem management for apnea training, the function, use and care of snorkeling equipment, and proper techniques to comfortably explore on the surface and shallow water zone. Prerequisites include good health and swimming ability, and a minimum 6 years of age.
PFI Basic Freediver Certification
This program teaches freediving techniques for comfortable enjoyment in the aquatic world to depths of 10m/33ft. You will also practice Static Apnea to help develop your breath-holding abilities and in-water comfort.
E learning and or classroom learning will include:
Essential safety procedures for breath-holding at the Basic Freediver Level
Proper breathing techniques for freediving and snorkeling
Confined water skill development
Open Water skill development
Equalization for depth diving
Equipment for freediving
Some fundamental physics and physiology of freediving.

Safety skills as a buddy
Perform a 1:00 minute static breathhold in the pool with opportunity to increase to maximum capacity
Dive with proper technique to a max of 10 meters constant weight and free immersion with proper recovery breathing

Swimming or snorkeling experience
Good health and fitness
10 years of age with guardian permission

This course offers a basic knowledge of freediving and introductory skills such as relaxation of body and mind, finning techniques, duck dives and equalisation.
We will need just one day in total to spend a little time on briefing and theory and then go have an Ocean experience!
Typically one day duration.
Prerequisites:
Requirements: 2 minutes STA; 40 meters DYN, 12 meters CWT, theoretical exam
Minimum water sessions: 5
The static and dynamic sessions in confined water are used to teach relaxation, breathing, finning and safety techniques. In the open water sessions students will apply the skills they have learned in the pool / confined water sessions and combine them with the basic skills of open water freediving such as equalizing, duck diving, vertical swimming, body positioning, turns and use of buoyancy.
The freediving theory will include: Introduction to Freediving, Freediving Breathing Cycle, Basic Physiology of Freediving, Equalization, Freediving Techniques, Safety in Freediving, Equipment in Freediving, Freediving Disciplines.
Typically two to three days duration. This is the Certification that you will need if you plan on traveling and freediving outside the immediate area.
